Settling in
the US

Post-Arrival

Location

Being the fourth largest country in the world, the USA has 50 states which have their own unique characteristics, cultures, climates, and lifestyles. When you visit the USA for the first time and plan to work as a dedicated nurse, you could be placed in any state like California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, and more, depending upon your healthcare company’s location. It could also be possible that you are placed in a very small town.

So, knowing where you are placed and how things work in that state or town is important. Important things to note are:

  1. Housing
The rental price for buying a 2-bedroom apartment may vary from state to state. Check out the average listing price if you plan to buy a house.
  2. Cost of Living
States like California, New York, and Hawaii tend to have higher costs of living, while states in the Midwest or the South generally have a lower cost of living.
  3. Licensure
Each state has its own regulations, and we will brief you on everything you need before arriving in the USA.
  4. Climate
Knowing about climate patterns and current weather is significant to know right before you arrive at your place of work. This allows you to pack everything you need. Ranging from tropical in Hawaii and Florida to arid in Arizona and desert-like in parts of California climate can be completely different.
  5. Cultural and Social Factors
Each state has its own cultural heritage, traditions, and social dynamics. Some states have vibrant arts and entertainment scenes, while others are known for their outdoor activities or historical landmarks.
