Settling in
the US
Post-Arrival
Initial Housing
During your first 30 days in the USA, we at Global MedTeam understand the importance of having a comfortable and convenient place to call home. That’s why we offer temporary housing solutions to ensure a smooth transition and plan booking temporary housing options, including hotels and furnished apartments tailored to your needs.
We aim to alleviate the stress of finding immediate accommodation upon your arrival by providing temporary housing. You can focus on getting acquainted with your new environment, exploring the local area, and attending to your professional commitments, knowing that you have a comfortable place to return to at the end of each day.
Initial Transportation
Depending on where you live and work, there are different transportation methods available to you. Most nurses purchase their own vehicle, ride public transportation, or use ridesharing services.
- Purchasing a Vehicle
- Purchasing your own car gives you the freedom to drive on your own to work, home, and other places such as the grocery store.
- You can purchase either a new or used car. Used cars are typically much cheaper than new cars, but may require more maintenance.
- Owning a car can be expensive. To legally drive in the US, you must have automobile insurance. You must also pay for gas and parking on a regular basis.
- Public Transportation
- In many cities, public transportation such as a bus, train, or subway can help easily get you to and from work on a regular schedule.
- Public transportation is very affordable, but is limited to certain routes and may run behind schedule.
- The schedules and routes are available online, and can be easily checked using government websites or Google Maps.
- Ridesharing
- Ridesharing services such as Uber and Lyft are widely available in the US, but are more expensive than public transportation.
- The cost, waiting time, and availability may vary depending on your location, the time of day, and are prone to changes over time.
- Other Options
- Depending on where you live and how far work is, you may be able to walk or bike to work.
- If you live near coworkers, travelling together or carpooling may be an option.
