Settling in
the US
Post-Arrival - Everyday Needs
Doctor, Pharmacies, Groceries & School
Immigrating to a new country may entail changing different aspects of your daily lifestyle and adapting to a new one. In order to help your transition to the US, we have put together a brief overview of a few key things to keep in mind
- Local Pharmacies: Pharmacies in the US sell some medications over the counter, and some require a prescription. Your local doctor can write many prescriptions to help you get any medication you need.
- Doctors: The United States healthcare system is highly dependent on insurance. To get an appointment with a doctor, you must have insurance (which your employer will provide) or show prior to the appointment that you will pay out of pocket
- Groceries: There are many options to buy groceries, including farmers markets, convenience stores, and grocery stores. You can also order groceries online using services such as Instacart, UberEats, DoorDash, etc.
- Children & Schooling: If you have children who will be immigrating with you, Global MedTeam will assist you in locating a good school within your home’s radius to allow for continued education for your family
