Job Description
Patient Assessment and Triage
- The Dialysis Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment for kidney failure or other renal conditions.
- This role involves assessing patient needs, administering dialysis treatments, monitoring patient responses, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for dialysis patients.
- Prepare patients for dialysis treatment, including physical assessments and education on procedures.
- Monitor patients during and after treatment, identifying and responding to adverse reactions or complications.
Medical Interventions
- Operate and monitor dialysis machines and related equipment.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments during dialysis.
- Ensure all infection control protocols and safety procedures are followed strictly.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with physicians, nephrologists, dietitians, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients and their families about kidney disease, treatment options, diet, and ongoing care.
- Support and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
Documentation and Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies

Certifications and Experience
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience in dialysis or nephrology nursing preferred but not always required.
- 1 – 5 years experience in Dialysis is preferre
- Current registered nurse licensure in state of North Dakota
- Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) or Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
