Job Description

Patient Assessment and Triage
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs related to their cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Medical Interventions
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other cancer treatments according to established protocols. Monitor patients for adverse reactions and manage side effects effectively. 
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies related to patient care, including administering life-saving measures as needed. 
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Work together with healthcare professionals to create personalized cancer care plans, educate and support patients and families, and help them make informed decisions while addressing their emotional needs.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety within the oncology unit.
Documentation and Record-Keeping
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs, laboratory results, and overall progress. Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records. Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that patients’ rights and preferences are respected throughout their care journey.

Certifications and Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • 1-5 years previous nursing experience in oncology or a related field is preferred, but new graduates with a strong interest in oncology are encouraged to apply.
  • Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification is preferred or required within 6 months of employment.
  • Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate preferred or required to obtain within 3 months of employment.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of oncology medications and treatment protocols Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Must successfully pass background checks and drug screen.
